In addition to her banking and finance practice, Sonia has extensive experience advising on mergers and acquisitions, foreign direct investment, joint ventures, and general corporate matters. She supports domestic and international clients throughout the entire transaction lifecycle—from structuring and due diligence to negotiation and completion—across sectors including natural resources, real estate, infrastructure, technology, and multifinance. She also advises on market entry strategies, corporate governance, licensing, and regulatory compliance, enabling clients to establish and expand their businesses in Indonesia with confidence.

Before joining NARA Law, Sonia practiced at a leading Indonesian corporate law firm affiliated with one of the world's largest global law firms, where she advised domestic and international clients on a broad range of banking and finance transactions, including syndicated and bilateral loans, acquisition and project finance, and other complex cross-border financing arrangements. During her tenure, she was seconded to the firm's office in Frankfurt Am Main, Germany for nearly one year, further strengthening her international perspective and cross-border transactional expertise. Sonia subsequently joined a prominent Indonesian law firm in strategic alliance with one of Japan's leading law firms, where she focused on mergers and acquisitions, foreign direct investment, and general corporate matters. In this role, she advised multinational corporations, strategic investors, and financial institutions on cross-border acquisitions, joint ventures, market entry strategies, corporate restructurings, and regulatory compliance across a wide range of industries. These experiences have equipped Sonia with a strong understanding of both international best practices and local market dynamics, enabling her to provide commercially sound and practical legal solutions to clients operating across jurisdictions.

Her client roster includes leading financial institutions and corporations, including Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC), HSBC, and Maybank Kim Eng. She has advised on a number of landmark transactions, including a USD 425 million acquisition financing for PT Agincourt Resources, one of Indonesia’s largest gold mining companies, and a EUR 96.8 million financing for Tuscan Palace Limited in connection with its acquisition of the Sofitel Bali Nusa Dua Beach Resort. In the energy and infrastructure sector, she played a key role in the Rajamandala 46.6 MW hydroelectric power project, the first project in Indonesia since the 1997 Asian Financial Crisis to obtain international limited recourse financing supported by a Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA) guarantee.
